Renewable Energy for Syrian Refugee Camps in Jordan

UNHCR and IKEA Foundation are building a solar farm in the Jordanian desert, to support some of the country’s 625,000 refugees. The farm will harness the sun’s energy and send it to the national grid, where it can be shared with Syrian refugees in Azraq camp – and local Jordanians.

Refugees in Azraq will get enough energy to fulfil basic needs – sharing a family meal in the light, visiting the bathroom safely at night and continuing their studies in the evening.
