IDPs learning how to generate income again

Generating income does not only provide financial security, it increase one’s sense of self-worth and build his\her self-esteem, especially for those who had to flee their houses and are most vulnerable.

UNHCR through its partner on the ground provides vocational training courses for the displaced Syrians and the host community to build self-reliance that will enable them to live with dignity and create a future for themselves and their families.

In 2015, over 15,000 IDPs and host community members benefited from the vocational and life skills.
The courses included a variety of subjects including hairdressing, computer, language courses, graphic design, cosmetics, knitting, sewing and painting. For 2016, UNHCR has initiated the initial procurement of 2,000 livelihood kits to be distributed.
