Friday was an action filled day in northern Aleppo as the jihadist rebels from Fatah Halab attempted to reclaim several sites that were lost to the Syrian Armed Forces on Thursday. However, Fatah Halab was unable to recover any of their lost points from Thursday, despite claiming that they seized the farm area between Shaqyef and Al-Mallaah in Aleppo’s northern countryside. A soldier from the Tiger Forces told Al-Masdar News on Friday night that the Syrian Armed Forces have no plans of actually reaching the Al-Castillo Highway; instead, their objective was to simply impose fire control over the roadway.
Should the Syrian Armed Forces reach the Al-Castillo Highway, then they will find themselves flanked from three different directions. Meanwhile, the Syrian and Russian air forces are working overtime in the northern Aleppo countryside, targeting any jihadist movements around the Al-Castillo Highway and ‘Anadan Plains. Minutes ago, the Russian Air Force delivered a powerful airstrike over the village of Shaqyef, killing over 20 members of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) in the process. Clashes are still ongoing around the Al-Castillo Highway; however, the Tiger Forces have reiterated that no gains have been made by the jihadist rebels.
